Applications of anionic polyacrylamide

1. Used in the textile and dyeing industries. Polyacrylamide is used as a sizing agent and finishing agent for fabric treatment, and it can create a soft, wrinkle-resistant, and mildew-resistant protective layer. Utilizing its strong hygroscopic properties, it can reduce breakage rates during fine yarn spinning. As a post-treatment agent, polyacrylamide can prevent static electricity and provide flame retardancy to fabrics. When used as a dyeing and printing auxiliary agent, polyacrylamide can improve the adhesion and brightness of products, and it can also be used as a non-silicone polymeric stabilizer for bleaching.

2. Primarily used as a flocculant: For wastewater with coarse suspended particles, high concentration, positively charged particles, and a neutral or alkaline pH, anionic polyacrylamide, due to the polar groups in its molecular chain, adsorbs suspended solid particles in the water, causing bridging between particles to form large flocs. Therefore, it accelerates the sedimentation of particles in suspension, significantly speeding up solution clarification and promoting filtration. This product is widely used in the treatment of wastewater and waste liquids from the chemical industry, municipal sewage treatment, water treatment in the tap water industry, purification and sedimentation of high-turbidity water, coal washing, mineral processing, metallurgy, steel industry, zinc and aluminum processing industry, and electronics industry.

3. It is widely used in the petroleum industry, oil extraction, drilling mud, waste mud treatment, prevention of water channeling, reduction of friction, improvement of recovery rate, and tertiary oil recovery.

4. Used in the paper industry: First, it improves the retention rate of fillers and pigments, thereby reducing the loss of raw materials and environmental pollution; second, it improves the strength of paper (including dry and wet strength). In addition, the use of PAM can also improve the tear resistance and porosity of paper to improve visual and printing performance. It is also used in food and tea packaging paper.

5. Other industries, including the food industry, use in the clarification of sugarcane juice and the phosphate flotation extraction of syrup in the production of sugarcane sugar and beet sugar. It is also used in the flocculation and clarification of enzyme preparation fermentation broth, as well as in the recovery of feed protein, ensuring stable quality and good performance. The recovered protein powder has no adverse effects on chicken survival rate, weight gain, and egg production. Other applications include synthetic resin coatings, grouting materials for civil engineering, water plugging, building materials industry, improving cement quality, construction adhesives, joint filling and repair agents, soil improvement, electroplating industry, and printing and dyeing industry.
